NAF Human Resources
NAF Employment
The 319th Force Support Squadron is one of the largest civilian employers on Grand Forks AFB. We offer a variety of non-appropriated fund (NAF) positions ranging from administrative support, food service, recreation, child development, and much more!
NAF employment is federal employment, however it is different from federal civil service employment (“GS positions”). Civil service employees are paid with money appropriated by Congress; whereas, NAF employees are paid from the revenue generated by their installation’s NAF activities, such as bowling centers, clubs, Outdoor Recreation, and more.
NAF jobs are an excellent way to gain valuable experience and build upon your resume, while furthering your federal career!
Flexible Schedules
NAF positions offer a variety of work schedules to fit your needs! We have two types of NAF positions: “flexible” and “regular.”
Flexible positions have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity. These employees may work 0 – 40 hours per week, and do not receive benefits.
Regular positions have work schedules between 20 – 40 hours a week (depending on position requirements) and are entitled to receive benefits.

Civilian Personnel
Federal Civil Service Employment
The Civilian Personnel Office (CPO) is the administrative office that hires and assists those who have been selected for an appropriated-fund (APF) position at Grand Forks AFB. Civil Service positions within the federal government are classified by occupational series, grade (pay level), and pay plan. Civil Service employees are paid with funds appropriated by Congress.
Most white-collar civil service positions are paid under the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and are salaried. Most blue-collar positions are paid under the Federal Wage System (FWS) and include craft, trade, and labor positions. The Federal Wage System includes several different pay plans (WS, WG, WL, etc.) and are paid on an hourly basis.
Are you a military spouse or a veteran?
