3D Printing

What is 3D printing?

3D printers use digital models to fabricate 3D objects, successively “printing” layers of material, one at a time, until an object is fully created. Our 3D printer uses PLA filament to create your projects, producing objects with a plastic-like finish.

Is there a charge for the 3D printer?

Nope! All 3D printing supplies are provided free of charge.

How do I get started?

  1. Create your own 3D model in a modeling program, such as Tinkercad, or find a project online that you’d like to print! Free digital designs are available from websites, such as Thingiverse.com
  2. Submit your project to the Library by emailing your request to gfafblibrary@outlook.com or submit your file in person via USB drive. Your file must be reviewed and approved by Library staff before it can be printed. See 3D Printing Guidelines for more details.
  3. Pick up your finished project at the library within 7 days. We will email or call you when your print is finished.

Project Rules

  1. Projects must be legal, appropriate, and not in violation of intellectual property rights
  2. File must be submitted in .stl or .obj format and file size cannot exceed 100 MB
  3. Print size cannot exceed 9.92 x 7.83 x 5.9 in
  4. Print time cannot exceed 7 hours

What colors are available?

We have gray, white, black, cream, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple PLA filament
